Blessed Devotee who Experienced Baba’s Miracle before 1918 – Your Property will Come Back to You

Blessed Devotee who Experienced Baba’s Miracle before 1918

Your Property will Come Back to You

Keshav was the grandson of Hari Bhau K. Karnik. He went on a pilgrimage festival of the goddess Mahalaxmi. The village was about ten miles away from his residence and was situated on the banks of a river. During his stay there, he often swam in the river. Just before returning home, he swam and bathed as usual, went to the temple, took Darshan of the goddess and returned home. On the way, he noticed that his golden ring weighing 1.5 tolas was missing. With a heavy heart, he returned home. He was sure that it must have slipped into the river while bathing.

About six months later, a Fakir came to his house and asked his grandfather whether his child had lost his ring in that very river. After ascertaining the identity of the ring, he returned it and left.

Sai Enables Your Fruit of Former Faith to the Present Faith

Sai Enables Your Fruit of Former Faith to the Present Faith

“The omniscient Baba knowing that he was a disciple of another Guru, assured him fearlessness and confirmed his faith in his own Guru.” – Shri Sai Satcharitra Ch 26

A more recent instance occurring at Kumbakonam may be repeated. A staunch Vaishnavite Brahmin was worshipping God as Tirupati Venkatesa and refused to pay any regard to any other form. He was ailing from very acute and painful Sciatica and Rheumatism. His son-in-law gave him Baba’s udhi and asked him to repeat Sai Baba’s name with faith. At first, he resisted this attempt to subvert his faith in Venkatesa, as he termed it. But necessity is the mother of faith.

One night, when the pain in his body could not be endured any further, he suddenly took Baba’s udhi and applied it to his legs thrice, calling on Sai Baba to remove his pain. The effect was instantaneous. The pain was off. Sleep that he could never obtain instantly supervened. He woke up in the morning freed from sciatica and was able to walk. He first thought that Venkatesa had led him into faith in Baba. He finally discovered that Baba was Venkatesa. Baba’s Guru being Venkatesa, or one that had merged his self in Venkatesa. In fact, there is only one God, however necessary it may be to start one’s faith in God by localizing God and attaching a particular form and name to Him.

Sai enables men ultimately to see that the fruit of former faith is the present faith, that Sai is no other than the Old Ishta Devata and guru and that the unifying and harmonizing influence molding their lives and selves points and leads to that ultimate unity-Sai-Chit-Ananda. Such experience has come to several. Reader, if it has not come to you yet, you also may get it one day. It is your own God who draws you through the Sai form.

Our Beloved Sadguru Sainath, please accept our humble prayers on this Holy Day of Guruvaar. Baba, help us to take off various masks we use on our day to day life. When we look around, the whole world of masked men and women. Baba, we can’t judge who is true, whole majority of people who have decided to hide behind a mask because of the issues they are battling with. Baba, it is time to make self examination in front of You, if any one of us wearing a mask, please help to remove the masks, it is right time to take it off with Your help. We want to stop pretending everything is fine when we know it is not, Today is very auspicious day, not only Guruvaar, but also the day we determined to take off all our masks and to show our real face to our brothers and sisters, friends and relatives, persons known and unknown to us. Baba. On this holy day we start our prayers by reading your divine guidance in Shri Sai Samartha Satcharitra.

In the chariot of one’s own body, make your intellect the charioteer and be the master yourself. Then you can sit at ease.

On these roads full of obstacles, in the form of pleasures of the senses, make the charioteer control the ten prancing horses of the sense organs by means of the reins, in the form of the mind.

If the horses try to run helter-skelter, the charioteer will hold the reins to control the horses. And once they are entrusted to him, you can rest at ease.

If the charioteer is skillful and expert, the horses will run properly. But if the mind in control of the reins is not independent, there is weakness.

Whenever the intellect accompanied by the sense of discretion, is in a position to guide the chariot, that person has full control over himself. One who can concentrate and whose mind is composed only can reach the supreme state of salvation and all others tire out on the way.

He will not be satisfied whose mind is restless. He has no entry in the realm of the supreme state of salvation and thus cannot avoid the cycle of birth and death.

Such is that supreme state but when can one find it? When all the doubts of the mind are cleared, it then appears before you on its own.

Here logic, deductions, popular talk or discussions are of no avail. Only by God’s grace you can attain it. All other sciences of learning are futile.

This is the marvel in this case – that innocent belief succeeds in knowing it, while logical skills are futile and the logical mind is confused.

Those who acquire the perfect wisdom are of a different type, whose thinking and intelligence are of a different kind. Please understand that such a person who has the real knowledge is very different and he is the best person to impart knowledge.

How the precious body is wasted! Wealth and pleasures are like the afternoon shadows, short-lived. Understand that this is a powerful illusion created by God and surrender at the feet of the Saints.

Saints are like the vessel on the oceans of the world. You be one of the passengers. Who else is capable of taking you across to the yonder shore?

Self-control and detachment, if combined together, will take him across the worldly ocean without difficulty, even though he may be a dullard like a millstone.

Rely on Yourself and Do Your Duty

Rely on Yourself and Do Your Duty

Baba said, “Let us do our prescribed duty” in Shri Sai Satcharitra, Ch. 32

A disciple came riding on his camel to the tent of his Sufi Master. He dismounted and walked right into the tent, bowed low and said, “So great is my faith in God that I have left my camel outside untied, convinced that God protects the interests of those who love him.”

“Go tie your camel, you fool!” said the Master. God cannot be bothered doing for you what you are perfectly capable of doing for yourself.

Baba Picture Miracles

Vasudev Sadashiv Joshi of Sitaram Co. and his friend Chidambar Rao K. Gadge went to Shirdi for Baba’s Darshan. They stayed in Sathe Wada and attended the Aarti that was conducted there. In the early days, there was Aarti in the Gurusthan also.

While the Aarti was in progress, Joshi saw Narsimha Murthy in the photograph instead of Baba. He was delighted; but wonder of wonders, it happened for three consecutive days. On the day of their departure, Baba gave them Udi and Prasad. They thought that the Prasad would not suffice for distribution, when they returned to their village. Baba, knowing their thought, gave them eight annas and asked them to buy Prasad from any shop in Shirdi, as any Prasad bought in Shirdi was His Prasad.

On another visit, Baba distributed ‘burfi’ for Prasad. They found it extremely delicious. So they thought they would buy some more. Baba told them that there were three baskets of prasad, so they could take three mounds from that. Happily they returned home with Baba’s Udi and the ‘burfi’ Prasad.

Some days later, Joshi gave Rs.10/- to his friend and asked him to give it to Baba as dakshina. He also made another request and that was to take a photograph of Baba and bring it back with him. Joshi wished to do ritualistic Puja to Baba. So, he wanted the photograph. Gadge left with Rs.10/- and went to the Dwarkamai, prostrated before Baba and gave Him Joshi’s dakshina. He was silent, as he had not the courage to request permission for the photograph. Baba, too, was silent for a long time. Then just before his departure, Baba Himself asked Gadge to take His photograph. Overwhelmed with gratitude, he ‘with consent photo’ took two photographs of Baba, one sitting and the other standing. Baba told him that the photographs should not be sold for a profit. He then gave him permission to leave with Udi and Prasad.

In Sai Satcharitra Ch.33 the story of Balabua Sutar is given. He was a famous kirtankar residing in Bombay. Once, he went to Shirdi and took Baba’s darshan. Baba said, “, “I have known him for the last four years.”Balabua wondered at this, for it was his first visit to Shirdi. How could Baba have known him since four years? Why four years? He racked his brains, and then he remembered that four years ago, he made obeisance to Baba’s photograph and the omniscient Baba mentioned it. He also got a valuable lesson that bowing to Baba’s photograph was bowing to Baba in person. This lesson, he treasured forever.

Carve out on your heart.” – Shri Sai Satcharitra, ch. 45

One day a young man was standing in the middle of the town proclaiming that he had the most beautiful heart in the whole valley. A large crowd gathered and they all admired his heart for it was perfect. There was not a mark or a flaw in it. Yes, they all agreed it truly was the most beautiful heart they had ever seen.

The young man was very proud and boasted more loudly about his beautiful heart. Suddenly, an old man appeared at the front of the crowd and said “Why, your heart is not nearly as beautiful as mine.”

The crowd and the young man looked at the old man’s heart. It was beating strongly, but it was full of scars. It had places where pieces had been removed and other pieces put in, but they didn’t fit quite right and there were several jagged edges. In fact, in some places there were deep gouges where whole pieces were missing.

The people stared — how can he say his heart is more beautiful, they thought?

The young man looked at the old man’s heart and saw its state and laughed.

“You must be joking,” he said. “Compare your heart with mine. Mine is perfect and yours is a mess of scars and tears.”

“Yes,” said the old man, “yours is perfect looking but I would never trade with you. You see, every scar represents a person to whom I have given my love – I tear out a piece of my heart and give it to them, and often they give me a piece of their heart which fits into the empty place in my heart, but because the pieces aren’t exact, I have some rough edges, which I cherish, because they remind me of the love we shared.”

“Sometimes I have given pieces of my heart away, and the other person hasn’t returned a piece of his heart to me. These are the empty gouges — giving love, is taking a chance. Although these gouges are painful, they stay open, reminding me of the love I have for these people too, and I hope someday they may return and fill the space I have waiting. So now do you see what true beauty is?”

The young man stood silently with tears running down his cheeks. He walked up to the old man, reached into his perfect young and beautiful heart and ripped a piece out. He offered it to the old man with trembling hands. The old man took his offering, placed it in his heart and then took a piece from his old scarred heart and placed it in the wound in the young man’s heart. It fit, but not perfectly, as there were some jagged edges.

The young man looked at his heart, not perfect anymore but more beautiful than ever, since love from the old man’s heart flowed into his.

Who are We?

Who are We?

Baba often said, “Who are we? Night and day think on this.”

About 1915 R.A Tarkhad, Managing Director of a mill, got into a compartment at Manmad in the dark and was fighting for a seat with a police constable, who was there. When R.A.T. arrived at Shirdi.

Baba: With whom were you persisting in contest this morning? Bhav (brother), we should not engage in contest with such people! “Who are We?” This we must enquire into.

R.A.T saw first, Baba’s reference to the social inequality of the disputing parties, and later on, the Vedantic meaning of the words, i.e., the unity of those parties in Brahman.

Baba (to Bala Bhav i.e., Sitaram Dev) : We have only to see (i.e., know) our self.

(Baba’s Charters and Sayings # 120)

Our Beloved Sadguru Sainath, please accept our humble prayers on this Holy Day of Guruvaar. Baba, please bless us permission to learn when everybody is complaining, permission to love yourself unconditionally when everybody around is despising you, permission to be constructive when everybody is destructive, permission to seek your purpose when everybody is living in confusion. Baba, with Your permission, we live a life as desired by You. On this holy day we start our prayers by reading your divine guidance in Shri Sai Samartha Satcharitra.

Therefore, for the sake of one’s own upliftment, one should attain Sai’s blessings. Read his stories, listen and meditate on them.

If you listen to this biography of Sainath, in the company of wife, son, family, friends and relatives, you will get the benefits of both the worlds. Baba’s leelas are unique.

Only the fortunate and faithful listeners are able to listen to these stories. While listening, a feeling of lightness steals through them and leads to an all encompassing peace.

In the running waters of the stream of the life stories, the salt of actions and non-actions will dissolve and Sai’s beautiful image will appear before the eyes, through listening.

By listening to his life story, sins will be destroyed. By listening to his life story, destiny will be fought. By listening to his life story, supreme happiness will be achieved effortlessly by the listeners.

By listening, the heart will become pure; by listening the cycle of birth and death will be avoided; by listening the listeners will achieve Brahman, which can be achieved by performing actions and offering the fruits to Brahman.

Such a person who desires to serve Sai, Sai will make him desireless and Sairama will give rest, peace and happiness to his own devotee.

Oh, listeners please read, listen, study or meditate on this book, part by part, daily or learn it or recite it.

‘Know thyself perfectly well. That happiness is Brahman’; is the famous quotation from the Taittirya Upanishad. This is transcripted to the devotees by Baba, who was well-versed in the Shrutis.

“Do not worry in the least. Remain always cheerful. Do not have any anxieties until death. ” Baba always preached this.

Mother will save us

Mother will save us

The mother of the simple devotees, whom she will save in calamities.” – Shri Sai Satcharitra, Ch. 22.

One afternoon, a couple was traveling on a road when all of a sudden, at a far distance, they saw a woman in the middle of the road asking them to stop. The wife told her husband to keep on driving because it might be too dangerous, but the husband decided to pass by slowly so he wouldn’t stay with the doubt on his mind of what might have happened and the chances of anyone being hurt. As they got closer, they noticed a woman with cuts and bruises on her face as well as on her arms. They then decided to stop and see if they could be of any help.

The cut and bruised woman was begging for help telling them that she had been in a car accident and that her husband and son (a newborn baby) were still inside the car which was in a deep ditch. She told them that the husband was already dead but that her baby seemed to still be alive.

The husband that was traveling decided to get down and try to rescue the baby and he asked the hurt woman to stay with his wife inside their car. When he got down he noticed two people in the front seats of the car, but he didn’t pay any importance to it and took out the baby quickly and got up to take the baby to it’s mother.

When he got up, he didn’t see the mother anywhere so he asked his wife where she had gone. She told him that the woman followed him back to the crashed car. When the man decided to go look for the woman, he noticed that clearly the two people in the front seats were dead; a woman and a man with both their seat belts on.

When he looked closer, he noticed that it was the exact same woman that was begging them for help in the beginning. Do you think that it was a miracle of God?

The baby now lives with family members and he will live to tell the story.
